Happy Halloween to all you goblins, monsters and drag-queens running around. This is your day! So when you come home with all that make-up stuck to your face, remove it with Cetaphil. Smear all over dry face and wipe face with smooth dry cloth, repeat as many times as necessary, depending on how hard you painted that face of yours. Finally wash your face with your favorite cleanser - I recommend Montarbo or Kiehl's - moisturize and call it a night!

There's something really dramatic and sartorial about an over coat. Though originally designed to be worn over a suit, the over-coat today has various uses. You can just wear it over a sweater with a pair of jeans. When buying an over-coat it is usually prudent to try it on first - avoid buying an over-coat on-line. Reason for this is the fit. Most overcoat designers will allow a little more room to serve its purpose but sometimes you may need to go up a size. So be old school, drive to an actual store and try it on!

This is a great example of layering for West coast weather with an East coast sensibility. Flannel shirt, wool cardigan , distressed jean jacket and wool scarf. Very urban and practical. All you need to stay warm in the warmer climates during the winter months. Warm, easy and fashionable.

Although color contrast seems to work best and be the easiest way to break away from a monotone or predictable combination of garments, mixing patterns within the same color scheme can be very effective as well. Make sure all pieces compliment each other by having at least one of the tones in each piece match the rest.

Wellensteyn USA presents the quality and functionality you expect in rugged work-wear, coupled with sophistication of high-end European fashion sensibilities. The perfect water resistant jacket for the rainy and/or cold weather season. Also the sleeves zip off so you can make this jacket into a vest. The suspender was first invented to accomodate pants which rise was too high for a belt. It was mostly worn as an underwear, usually covered by a vest. Through the years the suspender has had its moments and continues to be an accessory for the well dressed gentleman, though it is not unusual to see suspenders worn with jeans and t-shirts these days. But the one thing to remember is that when wearing suspenders, you don't need to wear a belt. A suspender and a belt serve the same purpose so you don't need to be redundant.

Going to the office in a shirt and tie, does not mean drab, boring, solids and monotone choices. Not at all. Mix patterns, always create contrast and make sure the shirt has a perfect tailored fit. Keep in mind that the width of the shirt collar will determine the width of the tie. Get in the habit of buying a tie every time you buy a shirt and before you know it, you will have an abundant selection of both and lots of options to consider.

Flannel, denim and thick cotton. These are the fall fabrics that will produce best results when thinking about shirts. They are all machine washable, most won't wrinkle and/or could be worn wrinkled plus the level of comfort is top rate. Also these shirts are available in all price points making them affordable in any budget.

Remember the fanny-pack? I still see them once in a while and I avert my eyes in horror. Now there's the man-purse or murse, which I believe had its origin in the 1970's. If a back-pack is too big and a wallet is too small, then there's the murse. Not nearly as hideous as that extra bulk of leather hanging around your waist, the murse serves a solid function and it can actually be really good looking.

if you're not feeling particularly creative and perhaps even a little
down one morning and as you're starting to get dressed and face your
day, you just can't come up with anything that will make you feel
better; there's always socks! Just open your sock drawer and pick out
the silliest and craziest one. Most people won't even notice but you
know you're wearing crazy socks and that's all that matters.
Crazy socks = A better day!

The good news is Russell Brand clearly works out. The not so good news is: is this really the best thing he can wear to accomplish his task? Seriously, I don't care if you're going home to Katie Perry who loves you just as you are, there's a little room for improvement in this work-out ensemble. And how about some squads so we can get some definition on those thighs? What do you think?

In the slacks department, a color that is making a lot of noise this season is the caramel/camel/mustard one. We are seeing most designer creating slacks in these tones this year. A color - not really suited for all types - could easily work very well when paired with the right contrasting color on top. Grays will always be a safe bet as will navy or blue tones and chocolate brown. Unless you have a real strong sense of style, avoid greens or reds when choosing the camel slacks.

A classic look will never be out of style. Here's Erroll Flynn in the 1930's however he could be walking the runway of Tom Ford or Giorgio Armani 2011 Fall/Winter collection, proving once again that style and elegance go hand in hand with a classic look that will never be dated. Proper tailoring, premium fabrics and impeccable craftsmanship are the essential in fine clothing that will never be out of style. So just for today do you choose trendy or classic?

For the more conservative gentleman who would like to dare to have a little pop in his look I offer, what I call, "the third color touch." When wearing a suit, try adding a third color touch by introducing a contrasting tie. This is an easy way to start to get a more current look while still remaining classic and traditional without having to look predictable and in some cases boring. Try various contrasting ties in front of the mirror until you find the one that suits you best. Feel free to try ties that you think will definitely not work and I believe you will be pleasantly surprised of what you will see in the mirror reflected back at you.

Mixing tweed and denim will work every time. A good tweed jacket is not only a classic piece but also a Fall/Winter basic every man should have in their wardrobe. However a tweed vest over a denim shirt will definitely do the trick. Dark denim shirts are on trend and pairing it with a dark tweed vest and a lighter chino or slack is a great combination that can take you from daytime at the office to evening out in the town by just rolling down the sleeves and throwing on a jacket. Oh and don't forget to button up the collar button and tighten up the tie before you meet your dinner date!

Yes you can wear pattern shirts in fall and winter. Fall and winter does not mean somber, muted colors and absence of pattern. Many designers like Etro, Sand and ISAIA - amongst many - create beautiful pattern shirts for the Fall/Winter season. You will find these shirts to be in fabrics that are on the thicker side of cotton or the lighter side of wool for the colder months of the year. So next time you shop this fall, know that you can pick up a pattern shirt and be season appropriate!
